CRICKET
OTAGO ASSOCIATION A meeting of the committee of the Otago Cricket Association was held last night. The senior vice-president (Mr A. H. Allen) occupied the chair. On behalf of the Grade Committee Mr W. Brookes reported that 'the committee had analysed proposals submitted by the Boys’ Association for the formation of a special grade for boys, under the age of IT, and it had no hesitation in recommending that these bo agreed to. It was considered that such a measure might help to prevent a number of boys from dropping out of the game, and the increase in the age limit might assist clubs which at present were unable to enter boys’ teams. —It was decided to inform the Boys’ Association that the proposals were endorsed, the action of the association being commended by several members. A. letter from Mr J. A. Smith proposing that the coach in future seasons should visit Central Otago was referred to the incoming executive. Upon the receipt of further information the committee withdrew its objection to the affiliation of the North Auckland Association. The reason for the earlier objection was that the balance of voting power would be altered to the disadvantage of the major associations.
