HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE
" ROBERTA" The musical comedy " Koberta " is proving a popular attraction at His Majesty's Theatre, and its production is followed with the keenest appreciation by large audiences. The. staging of the comedy is on most spectacular lines, and the singing and dancing are splendidly carried outOn the principals, Miss Madge Elliott and Mr Cyril liitchard, naturally enough, the success of the comedy mainly rests. They prove that they are a very versatile pair of artists, and that the trust reposed in them to fill such responsible parts is fully merited. Mr Frank Leighton and that experienced and capable actress, Mies Ethel Morrison, also present their respective characters in a manner which cannot fail to win the approval of the audience. Miss Marie Le Varre, Miss Diane Du Cane, Mr Field Fisher, and Mr Arthur Clarke also fill the parts allotted to them with conspicuous success, and the other members of the company ably support the work of the principals. "Roberta" will be staged to-night and to-morrow night, and there will be a matinee on Saturday.
"OUR MISS GIBBS" AND HIGH JINKS."
On Monday night afternoon the company will appear in a 1935 production of "Our Miss Gibbs." Many are the happy memories this musical play will bring back to the minds of Dunedin theatregoers. Who can forget "Yip-I-addy-I-ay," "Mary." "Hughie," "Arms and the Man," "Moonstruck," "Yorkshire," and many other melodies associated with one of the greatest successes the stage has known? " Our Miss Gibbs " will introduce to the Dominion Freddie Foss, the English comedian recently introduced to Australia by J. C. Williamson. Ltd. Nest Tuesday and Wednesday nights the company will make its farewell appearances in " High Jinks," an attractive musical comedy, which is as fragrant and alluring as the perfume that forms the central motif of its piquant story.
