A RARE BIBLE

A rare edition of the Bible, printed in 1717 and known as the "Vinegar" Bible, through a compositor's error in putting "vinegar" instead of "vineyard " in the parable, has been restored to Eastry Church, near Dover, to which it belonged in 1822. It was found by a clergyman living near Bishop's Stortford, in a second-hand shop. He bought it for 30s. The Bible bears the inscription: "St. Mary, Eastry, Kent; Rev. George Randolph, vicar; Thomas Mouldcn, Thomas Castle, churchwardens, 1822." It measures 20J inches by 12:} inches, and is four inches thick.
