GERMAN WOMEN
DEATH IN'LONDON FLAT A VERDICT OF SUICIDE LONDON, April 10. An the inquest on Dr Dora Fabian and Frau Wurm it was revealed that the women were recently granted £25 from the Jewish refugees’ fund. A post mortem examination showed narcotic poisoning. Carl Korsch, a German doctor of laws, gave evidence that Dr Fabian helped Trim with economic writings. She urged him to occupy a spare room in her flat as a lodger. He refused because he was married, and preferred working alone. The refusal upset Dr Fabian, who tried to detain him at their last meeting, when he had to wrench his arm away in order to leave. A German shorthand note was found iiir the flat addressed to Dr Korsch. It read: “ I loved you too much. I take with me the only person in whom I am interested.” Dr Korsch added that Dr Fabian was afraid that she would not be permitted to remain in England because she was mixed up in European politics. The coroner commented that there was no difficulty in that connection. He returned a verdict of suicide while of unsound mind. A previous message stated: Mystery surrounds the death of Dora Fabian, aged 36, a German doctor of philosophy, divorced from her husband, who is a doctor in Berlin, and Matilda Wurm, aged 50, whose husband was People’s Commissar during the German revolution in 1918. They were found in the top room of a Bloomsbury house. A bottle, which is believed to contain poison, was found near the bodies, and a mass of correspondence in various languages was strewn on the floor. Dr Fabian was at one time secretary to the Minister of Justice for Prussia.
