DUST STORMS

RECURRENCE IN AMERICA WORST YET EXPERIENCED (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) NEW YORK, April 10. (Received April 11, at 10.10 p.m.)

The official report of the Federal Department of Agriculture on the crop situation received from Washington stated in the 10 States chiefly affected by drought and dust over 40 per cent, of the winter wheat seeded last autumn ie expected to fail. A large proportion of the acreage is being abandoned. The Western Kansas farmers to-day gave up hopes for the wheat crop. A new dust storm more dense and destructive than the dozens already experienced swept their fields and tugged at what \tegetation remained. It extended, moreover, to Western Oklahoma and Texas Panhandle. Residents at Dighton did not know when dawn came to-day, so thick was the dust, while at Amarillo, in Texas Panhandle, the dust flowed over the plains almost like water. In certain other towns visibility fell to zero.
