EMPIRE MAIL PLANE ARRIVAL AT DARWIN DARWIN, January 24. Bringing 6001 b of air mail, the new DHB6 piano for Quantas Empire Airways arrived at Darwin yesterday evening, with Captain Youell, an Imperial Airways pilot, at the controls. !£he plane made the crossing of the Timor Sea in 3hr 35min, averaging 148 miles an hour. Captain Youell said the plane gave no trouble. It left Paris Exactly a fortnight ago. The machine is the same as the other DHB6 planes, which have been delivered to Quantas Airways, except that the tail structures have been strengthened and the wings fitted with the latest “ flaps,” which have reduced the landing speed and allowed landing on a smaller space.
