ROWING

WELLINGTON CLUB’S GOLDEN JUBILEE. (Peb United Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 14. Rowers and old followers of sport attended in force the Wellington Rowing Club’s golden jubilee dinner last night. Mr W. J.' Gaudin, president of the club since 1916, presided and an interesting feature was the presentation to the club of two trophies won by the old Dolly Varden crew by Mr E. P. Stewart, a nephew of the club’s first president. A life membership badge was presented to Mr Haward Redding for his sendees to the club. The rowing season was opened in Wellington yesterday afternoon with a regatta. The Petone Club won the Redding Shield with 21 points, Wellington being second with 11 and Star third with 10.
