PORT CHALMERS NEWS
MISSIONS TO SEAMEN Tho general secretary of the Missions to Seamen, Mr Stuart Knox, was a visitor to Port Chalmers on Saturday. Mr Knox is on a world tour, visiting the 200 full-time institutes and chaplaincies conducted by the Flying Angel Mission and other smaller works in a number of additional ports. He met in conference the vicar of Port Chalmers (the Rev. A. B. Pywell), and endorsed certain proposals submitted to him by the vicar and Holy Trinity vestry. Before leaving Port Chalmers Mr Knox made a hurried visit to the local Sailors’ Rest rooms. HOLY TRINITY CHURCH The first meeting of the Mothers’ Union of Holy Trinity Church was held recently, when there was a large attendance. The meeting was preceded by a short service in the church. On Sunday evening a special service, commemorating “ Mothering Sunday,” was held. Tim service was well attended. The vicar (the Rev. A. B. Pywell) preached at appropriate sermon on the relationship between religion and home life. Ac anthem and solo, each well rendered, were j part of the service.
