SOUTHERN ITINERARY Mr A. W. Martin, rupture specialist, will close his rooms. Samson’s Buildings, Dowling street, on Saturday, the 17th. at 12 noon, till Saturday, the 24th, to enable him to visit Invercargill and Gore on his twenty-ninth annual visit. He will be at the Southern Club Hotel. Invercargill, from 2 p.m. on Monday, the 19th, till Thursday, the 22nd. His address will be Southland Hotel, Gore, on Friday and Saturday, the 23rd and 24th. On his return to Dunedin Mr Martin will bo available on Monday, the 26th. till the Easter holidays. Hours, daily 10 to 5 p.m.; Saturday. 10 to 12 noon, during the week.—l3/3/34.

Two men in Chester recently saw premises attached to the shop of a hairdresser in flames. Knowing that a number of children lived on the premises, they broke a window and ran upstairs. One of the men grabbed at a bed and picked up what he thought was a child, but was actually a water ■ bottle. The children were attending a pantomime performance with their parents. The men were treated for injuries' to the wrist. The fire wag extinguished.
