LAWRENCE, December 9. school committee: The monthly meeting of Lawrence Disrict High School Committee wag held bn December 6; 1 The rector .reported that, the presept roll / number wag 139, tthe average' attendance being 124. The' proficiency examination whs held on December- 4, nine out .of fourteen candidates gaining proficiency certificates ; and five competency. It was resolved to invite the Mayor (Mr Ji K, Simpson) to un,veil the memorial to the late Mr W. R. Smyth and to invite the Rev. J. N. Thompson to address the children. ; Mr Suters .was thanked, for his donation of a number of books to the school library. Arrangements for the concert and school break-up were finalised. .

SALE OF WORK. The sale of work held .by the'Ladies’ Guild of Holy Trinity Church on Wednesday was a great ; success, a, fine financial result being achieved."'
