DIVORCE ACTION
SOLICITOR-GENERAL INTERVENES (Bek United' press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, November 2. A case almost without precedent in New Zealand came before Mr Justice Reed in the Supreme Court, when the Solicitorgeneral intervened in the granting of a decree absolute in divorce proceedings. The case was one in which Charles Hector Hopkins, of Springfield, a railway porter, petitioned for divorce on the grounds of separation., A decree was granted on May 24 last. The Solicitorgeneral intervened and asked the court to exercise its discretion in refusing'a decree absolute on the grounds of occurrences subsequent to the making of a separation agreement in 1928. In answer to his Honor, counsel said that the Solicitor-general had taken action after the receipt of a letter from the respondent, in which allegations were made that misconduct had been committed before the decree nisi proceedings. Judgment was reserved. \
