(From Our Own Correspondent.) ALEXANDRA, November 2. BOWLING. , The following is the draw for the first round of the Vincent Bowling Subassociation’s shield fixtures:— November 11.—Cromwell A v. Alexandra; Bannockburn v. Roxburgh; Clyde v. Cromwell B. November 18. —Alexandra v. Clyde; Roxburgh v. Cromwell A; Cromwell B v. Bannockburn. November 25.—Air Pageant at Cromwell and no matches. December 2. —Cromwell B v. Alexandra; Bannockburn v. Cromwell A; Clyde, v. Roxburgh. . December 9.—Roxburgh v. Alexandra; Bannockburn v. Clyde; Cromwell v. Cromwell. B. December 16.—Clyde v. Cromwell A; Cromwejl B v. Roxburgh; Alexandra v. Bannockburn. December 25 to 29.—Alexandra Christmas tournament. CROQUET. The annual meeting of the Vincent Croquet Centre was held in Alexandra on Tuesday, Mrs J. H, Rivers presiding. The following office-bearers were elected for the ensuing year: President, Mrs ;E. W. George ' (Clyde); vice-presidents— Meedames W. Hardy (Cromwell) and J. A. O’Kane (Alexandra); secretary, Mrs E. Wood (Clyde) ; committee—Mesdames A. E. Ruff (Alexandra), W. Jelley (Cromwell), J. Davies (Clyde), and R. Smart (Cromwell). . It was decided to start interdub matches in the third week in November, the champion of champions .fixture to be played at Alexandra this season. Opportunity was taken to present Mrs J. H. Rivers, last season’s champion of champions, with a silver spoon, the trophy from the centre. VALEDICTORY.
Prior to his departure from Omakau, where he has held the position of postmaster for the past five yegrs, Mr E, H. Patton was entertained at a complimentary social by the residents of the dist ri ct. Mr Patton has during his stay in Omakau been a very efficient and obliging officer; he has also taken his full share of work in the various activities of the district. Mr A. C. Scoullar, on behalf o£ the residents, made the presentation and referred to the excellent qualities of the guest. He presented Mr Patton with a clock, a tobacco pouch, and a cheque xrom the j residents of the district. Mr Patton made a suitable reply. He left tor Ashburton by this morning’s express.
