FIELD DAY AT MIDDLEMARCH

Under the auspices of the local branches of the Earners’ Union aqd Women’s Division a field day has been organised for Saturday, November 11, when it is expected that there will be a very big gathering of fanners from the Maniototo and Strath Taieri. Two bands will be in attendance —the John M'Glashan Pipe Band (through the courtesy of the principal, Mr Colin Gilray) and the Middlemarch Brass Band. Mr R. B. Tennent, district superintendent, Department of Agriculture, will give an address illustrated with some interesting and rather spectacular demonstrations. Mr W. R. Bruch will give an address on some aspects of things in the Old Country and Mr James Begg will give a short address on some of our present day problems. Short addresses will also be given by Mr W. H. Brent, president, of the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce. Mr S. Bowman, president of the Otago A. and P. Society, and others. Cattle and sheep demonstrations will be given by prominent breeders. Arrangements are being made to supply boiling water and milk during the luncheon interval, and it is hoped that many Dunedin visitors will take the opportunity of spending a pleasant day of meeting old friends in the ideal surroundings of the Middlemarch show grounds.
