(From Our Own Correspondent.) LAWRENCE, November 2, RUGBY SUB-UNION.

o m , mee *i n K of the year of the bouth Tuapeka Rugby Sub-union was held on Tuesday evening. Dr. W. Sutherland being in the chair. Correspondence was received from the Otago Rugby Union advising that the New Zealand Rugby Union had declined to reinstate A. Petherick, of Beaumont.—Received. The treasurer (Mr E. F. Batchelor) reported that the receipts for the year amounted to £SO 3g 8d and the expenditure £32 Os lOd, leaving a credit balance of £lB 2s 10d.—On the motion of Mr J. Colgan, it was resolved to write to the Rev._ H. A. Mitchell thanking him for his cervices as a referee during the season, and regretting his departure from tile district.—Dr. W. Sutherland. and Mr E. P. Batchelor were appointed trustees of the sub-union. BOROUGH COUNCIL. 1 The monthly meeting of the Borough Council was held last evening, the following being present:—The Mayor (Mr J. K. Simpson), Crs R. T. "Gray, R. F. Batchelor, J. B. M'Kinlay, G; R. Talboys, G. H. Martin, and W. J. Suters. Mr W. A. Bodkin, M.P., in acknowledging the council’s letter of thanks for his endeavour to obtain a grant of £250 from an art union for baths in Lawrence, stated that he was still hopeful of success.—Received. . • ■ The acting town clerk, Dunedin City Council, advised that his couscil proposed to charge a fee of 2 per cent, on the amount of fees collected' for heavy traffic licenses.—lt was decided to protest against the proposed charge, which would amount to £l5O per annum, and notify that £25 was considered an adequate charge. The Finance Committee reported a credit balance of £391 4s 6d. .. - , CRICKET ASSOCIATION. ■ The following is the position of the teams in the Tuapeka cricket competition:—Miller’s Flat 5 points, Roxburgh 5 points, Edievale 3 points, Tapanui 3 points, Lawrence 1 point, Heriot 1 point. PERSONAL. Mr R, A. Prisk, manager of the Bank of New Zealand, has received notice of hia transfer to The Dunedin North branch, and Mr Winchester, of Owaka, has been transferred to Lawrence.
