AN APPRENTICE’S APPEAL (Per United Press Association.) WANGANUI, October 31. The appeal of the apprentice, G. Duncan, against his suspension for one month, imposed at the Waverley meeting, was beard this afternoon by the Wanganui District Committee, which confirmed the finding of the Waverley Judicial Committee, but decided to reduce the sentence to 14 days as from same time severely reprimanding Duncan, who will miss the Auckland spring meeting. S. Smith, the lessee of Waltzing Lily, has issued a challenge for £IOOO to race that mare against Gaine Carrington, Kuvera, Pretzel, Topical, or Oro at any distance from six to twelve furlongs. Smith holds the opinion that Waltzing Lily was unlucky in the Caulfield Cup and the Cox Plate.
