RICCARTON TRACK WORK

(Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, October 31. The' weather was fine but with a cold wind for training work this morning. Rain overnight had left the outside course proper in good order, but. times, with few exceptions, were not fast.

Berate and Liege Lord went seven furlongs in Imin 31see. Cricket Bat covered a mile in Imin 40_ 4-ssec, a smart performance after going very, fast in the early stages. Cleaner went seven furlongs easily in Imin 38sec, Fracas half a mile in 63sec, Rational II and Ringing Cheer six furlongs in Imin 19sec, Silvox a mile and a-quarter in 2min llsec, High Rank joining for the last mile in Imin 44 l-ssee. Red Manfred went a mile in Imin 42 3-ssec, the last half in 50 3-ssec. Guarantee, with Red Dance over the last half, went seven furlongs in Imin 29 l-ssec. Silent' Flight, Horn’s Reef, and Pin Money went a half brilliantly in 48 l-ssec. Copyist a mile in Imin 46 2-ssec, Control and Custodian a half along the back in 52sec. Croupier beat Hurlingham over five furlongs in Imin 2sec, and Heather Glow beat Falkland easily over a mile. Tout le Monde and Rocket, on terms, beat Night Flyer by three lengths over a mile and a-quarter in 2min 14 3-ssec. The pace was slow early, the last mile taking Imin 47sec and the last half 53sec.

Bright Shade was with Red Arrow over the last part of a mile in Imin 47sec. Monastic was brought home by Ruling Pen over seven furlongs in Imin 31 l-ssec. Ramo and Glandovey went a half in 52sec, Passion Fruit and Emotion six in • Imin 18 4-ssec, Errantry and Master Reynard a half in 50 2-ssec.

Marcus Cicero and Invoice failed to go away together from the half-mile, the former doing 50 3-ssec and the latter olsec. Bright Red and St. Joan went five furlongs in Imin 3 4-ssec. Ranelagh beat Brambletorn over a mile in Imin 47see, after doing the first half in 62sec. Metal Bird beat Manuiri over six furlongs in Imin 21 2-ssec. Great Star, who had been on the easy list, went seven with Double Shot in Imin 34sec. Manetho covered a half easily in 51 3-ssec. Sweet Agnes and Tea Garden went seven comfortably in Imin 35 ,l-ssec. Sam Smith was with Arrow Rose over the last half of six furlongs in Imin 20sec. Southdown went a mile in Imin 45 l-ssec. Water Polo joining in the last five furlongs. Haere Tonu and Variant went a half along the back in 52sec, True Shaft and Nightguard a half in 52 2-ssec, Some Shambles and Niggerhead six furlongs in Imin 20sec, Riri taking the same alone.

Lordly Knight went five furlongs smartly in Imin 2 l-ssec, Night Recital and Eupator six furlongs in Imin 19 3-ssee, Lady Zephyr six furlongs easily in Imin 22sec.

Silver Briar, with a mate, did the last part of a mile in Imin 47 4-ssec. Kerbside, with the assistance of Prince Warden, went a half in 50 4-ssec, Spoon a mile in Imin 45 3-ssec, Royal Amphora a half easily in 55sec. 1 Importance was brought home by a first-class filly over six furlongs in Imin 19 4-ssec. Silly Owl went a half in 50 3-ssec. Drumfire beat Cranford over six furlongs in Imin 17 l-ssec. Gaysome did a halt along the back in 49 4-ssec. Don Jose jumped five hurdles very well.
