THE KUROW DISTRICT

(From Our Own Correspondent.) KUROW. October 30. LADIES’ HOCKEY.

The position in regard to the winning of the Waitaki Ladies’ Hockey Sub-asso-ciation’s competition remains a deadlock. At the conclusion of this season's competition Bluebird A (Ngapara) and Windsor were level on points, and in the play-off Windsor beat Bluebird by 2 goals to 1, but, contrary to the rules of the game, the referees had changed ends. Ngapara* lodged a protest asking for a replay, and this was dealt with at a meeting of the sub-association on October 3, at which a motion was. carried that the game be replayed. The Windsor delegates informed the meeting that they could not field a team, and would have to hand the cup to Ngapara by default. Ngapara refused definitely to accept the cup on these terms, insisting on a replay. , A sub-association delegate has expressed the opinion that there are now- two courses. open, the first being to call a meeting of the sub-association and' rescind the motion that the game be replayed and so give the Ngapara Club a chance to withdraw the protest, or at least give the teams an opportunity to come to some arrangement. The other course was for Ngapara to accept the cup. He further stated that h e would obtain the opinion of a delegate to The New Zealand Board of Control, and, if necessary, the official ruling of that body. Meanwhile, the opinion of the North Otago Association was being sought. - The trophy in dispute was presented by Mr M. Lawlor, of 'Kurow, in 1925, to be held for one year by the winning team, and it has been held by the'following Huia (Kurow) 1925, Ngapara 1926, Hum 1927, Duntroon 1928, Windsor 1929.
