The Goodwood-Flag Swamp and Shag Point lawn tennis A Grade teams met at Goodwood-Flag Swamp on Saturday, and a close game resulted in a win for the visiting team by 12 games. The following are the details (Shag Point names first): — Men’s Singles.—J; Barber 6, P. Gordon 7; E. 'Sheat 9, R. Dempster 4; H. Sheat 4, C. Hewitt 9; J, Wilde 9, J. Crossan 8.

Ladies’ Singles.—Miss Nicholson 4, Miss P. Cullen 7; Mrs M'Lean v. Miss M. Sheppard was unfinished when rain commenced; Miss E. Sheat 7, Miss 8.. Cullen 1; Miss K. Barber 7, Miss K. Dixon 5. Men’s Doubles.—Barber and E. Sheat 9, Gordon and Dempster 5; H. Sheat and Wilde v. Hewitt and Crossan was unfinished owing to rain. Ladies’ Doubles.—Mies Nicholson and Mrs M'Lean 7, Mieses P. Cullen and Sheppard 3; Misses Sheat and Barber 7, Misees B. Cullen and Dixon 2. Mixed Doubles. —Barber and Miss Nicholson 6, Gordon and Mies P. Cullen 7; E. GUN CLUB, The competition to decide the champion shot of the Palmerston Gun Club took place on Saturday afternoon under good shooting conditions. It was a 15-bird mutch, off .14 yards, and there were nine competitors. W. Sutherland broke, all his birds and won the trophy. Joe Roy, D. Ross, and J. R. Roy each broke 14, A. H. Cowan 12, J. Nichol 11. The rest retired after missing two or more. A six-bird double-rise was won by J. RRoy with five breaks. The next competition will be the Christmas shoot on December 23. •
