THE BYRD EXPEDITION - ■ SHIPS READY TO LEAVE. NEW YORK, September 23. (Received Sept. 25, at 0.25 a.m.) The Bear of Oakland will leave oa Monday, heading the expedition into Little America. Rear-admiral Richard Byrd announced on Saturday night that she will be followed in a few days by the Pacific Fir, which is expected to overtake the Bear at the Canal zone, where the first stop will be made, before the second leg to the ship's base in New Zealand is made. The Bear will carry a picked crew of scientists, their equipment and a quantity of food sup plies. The Fir will be loaded with the greater share of items needed in polar survey. '■,•.'•-■
