TO-DAY’S FOOTBALL
SEYEN-A-SIDE TOURNAMENT. The public should witness some very interesting football at Carisbrook this afternoon, when the sefiior and junior seven-a-side tournament will be played. Ten teams have entered for the senior competition and 12 for the junior. The first round of the junior competition will be played at Bathgate Park, commencing at 1.30 p.m. The winning teams will then proceed to Carisbrook, and the remaining matches in the junior competition will be played there. All the senior competition games will be played at Carisbrook. The proceeds from the tournament will go towards the funds of the local clubs. ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL. With the meeting of the two leading teams in both the First and Fourth Division competitions at the Caledonian Ground this afternoon spectators will have the opportunity of witnessing some attractive football. The principal match will be the play-off between the two leading teams in the Fletcher Cup competition, Maori Hill (the only undefeated club this season) and Mosgiel. A win or a draw to Maori Hill will place the winners of the premiership beyond doubt: but should Mosgiel win the former will have a further chance, as it has still a match to play against Port Chalmers. Both teams are fairly evenly matched, and keen and exciting play should result. In the early game Mosgiel and High School Old Boys will play off in the final for the Fourth Division Cup, these teams having finished with equal cup points. Immediately following this game, running, jumping, and other events will be run off by the members of the Mornington Harrier Club.
