Y.M.C.A. APPEAL
As a result of the publicity given, to the needs of the Young Men’s Christian Association at the public meeting held early this week several donations have already been received. A street day • and suburban canvass will be commenced on Friday next, • when citizens will be asked to subscribe towards the appeal by giving 5000 shillings., The Y.M.C.A. has not lost sight of the ideals the founder had in mind, but fast changing conditions have necessitated a continuous widening of the association’s work, with ever-increasing responsibilities. The work of the Y.M.CA. amongst the boys and young men during the trying times through which the community ha s been passing has made serious inroads into the association’s resources. The ideal of Christian citizenship permeates the whole of the association’s activities, and the building up of a healthy mind in a healthy body continues to be the guiding principle of the association’s work. Every shilling given will help to perpetuate tne work. The following amounts have been received by the Y.M.C.A. to date in aid of the appeal for £3OOO for youth work: —
