WOMAN GRAVELY INJURED

WHANGAREI. August 2,

Mrs D, G, Gordon, of Taihape, thi mother of seven children, euffeied a fracture of the base of the skuii and sbulp lacerations when a car in which she was being driven to Whangam by Mr W. R. Claris, of Marua, a relative, with whom she had been spending a holiday, was struck by the express train at a level crossing at Kamo, She is in the hospital in a serious condition. The car Was almost over the line when Mrs Gordon, realising the proximity of the train, culled out, causing Mr Claris to ease his foot on the accelerator. Bat for this the car would have escaped.
