DARING BURGLARY

INTRUDERS CHASED * FROM HOUSE NO VALUABLES MISSING-?/ * (Per United Press Association,) PALMERSTON N., August 2. A daring burglary occurred just before dawn yesterday at the residence of Mr H. C, Morgan, a bank accountant, of Featherston street. Two strangers are involved. It is surmised that they had a motive other than stealing valuables from the bouse. Awakening at 6.30 a.m. Mrs Morgan saw the outline of a man’s form on a She informed her husband, who made a rush at the intruder, who raced downstairs and -escaped by the front door, being joined by a companion. Subsequently a small purse was .found empty on the floor. Six pounds, which had been removed from a fur coat which the intruder had taken from another jmrt of the house, were found on a chair. Later it was discovered that. the telephone had been plugged. Mr Morgan suffered bruises in colliding with the stairs in his chase after the intruder, f 4n entrance had been gained by slipping the catch of one of the lower windows.
