(Fkom Our Own Correspondent.) PALMERSTON, April 2. The final of the ladies' bowling Championship Pairs was played yesterday morning, Mesdames Martin and 0. Fraser defeating Miss M'Ritchie and Mrs Korner by 27 points to 15. The bowling green was officially closed for the season in the afternoon with a mixed tournament,. the Palmerston Club being host to members from various other clubs, and a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon was spent under ideal weather conditions. The trophies won by the various lady players were presented as follows:—Mrs Sutherland's cup for singles (completed from last year), Mrs MT/eod; Mr J. Stewart's medal for singles, Mrs Morrison; the lady president's trophy for pairs, Mesdames Martin and 0. Fraser; runners-up trophy. Miss M'Ritchie and Mrs Korner; Mrs Langs pairs trophy for those who had never won a prize, Mrs Cameron and Miss D. M'Ritchie. LAWN TENNIS. The play-off for the A Grade Cup was brought to a conclusion at the Palmerston courts yesterday. Although not completed when dusk fell, the game had gone far enough to rob Waikouaiti of all chances of success, Shag Point winning by nine sets (98 games) to five sets (86 games). The necessity for a play-oft m the B section was obviated yesterday when Goodwood-Flag Swamp decisively deieated Shag Point at the Matter's court by 10 sets (70 games) to two sets (40 games). This game was also unfinished, but witn only four sets to play Shag Point had no chance. Goodwood-Flag Swamp will thus hold the B Grade Cup for the season. A Mixed Doubles tournament was held at Dunback yesterday for a trophy presented by the president (Mr E. Brownlie). V. Roberts and Miss E. Denmead emerged victorious, and were presented with tne silver buttons. PICNICS. The Green Valley School spent a very enjoyable day at Trotter's Gorge on Friday on the occasion of the annual school picnic. Races and games were held, ana the outing was very successful. lne oz. Mary's Sunday School picnic was held at Trotter's Gorge yesterday under ideal weather conditions, when a lengthy sports programme was run off. ■
