JAPAN AND FRANCE
OVERTURES FOR ALLIANCE THE SUNDAY TIMES STORY. LONDON, October 10. Whitehall knows nothing of the story of the Sunday Times that France rejected an overture from Japan for an alliance. It was pointed out that, apart from the impossibility of acceptance when Japan’s Manchurian policy was subject to review by the League of Nations, France could scarcely afford to prejudice American and other friendship.
