SALVATION ARMY BENEFIT CONCERT

ENTERTAINMENT IN CITADEL There was a large audience in the Salvation Army Citadel last evening, when a concert, the proceeds of which' were in aid of the local corps funds, was presented by a number of Dunedin artists. The programme was arranged by Madame Martinelli-Reggiardo and Signor Giovanni Stella, the success of whose efforts,was very evident in the high standard of the entertainment provided. Vocal and instrumental numbers, operatic scenas, and elocutionary selections were arranged, insuch a' manner as to make. for. pleasing balance in the programme as a whole, and the enthusiasm of the audience was.a tribute to the excellence ot the quality of the individual items themselves. _lhe band, under the direction of Mr-A. Millward, was heard is two numbers, Prodi; gal's Return" and "Hardy Norsemen, and songs were presented by Mr Lewis Carroll- (" Captain Mac", Mr T. Kennedy ("Bon Jour Suyon ') Miss Vanda Duncan (" Waiat aj Maori * , Mr C. G. Drummond ("Border Ballad"),, Master Jack Keane ("To a Miniature ), Mrs Edward Stone . .& Dream of -Del ght), Signor Giovanni Stella (" %?»>*■) • T Mls T 8 Clare DillonJ"Killarney ) ; .Mj -J. JDevereux ("Toreador Song"), with the Stella-Musicale, Misses V. Duncan.JJ. Bayley, V. Elliott. S. Tudor-M. Carroll, and D. Rodgers (''The Melody Maids ), & Clare Dillon. Mr J. J- Devereux, and Mr L. Carroll (scene from La Forza del Destino"), with the Stella Musicale, and Messrs F.Rodgers and L. Carroll ("Larboard Watch '). The instrumental items were provided by Misses W Baylv and T. Stewart (piano, duo, "Gallop Brilliant"). Miss Anna Briaeco (violin solo, " Thais "), Mr J. W. Stewart flute solo "Pplonaiee'U- Enjoyable monologues were given by Madame Mar-tinelli-Reggiardo, and Mr .Colin Arrey. The pianoforte accompaniments were played by Mrs T. Montague and Miss Joan Stewart, whilst the accompanying instrumentalists were Miss Anna Bnasto and Mr J. W. Stewart. - . ' .
