(Received July 11, at 5.5 p.m.’ Captain Lawrence Hope, flying a Fox Moth, won the King’s Cup air race by 23 minutes, with an average speed over the two-days’ course of 1233 miles of 124.25 miles per hour. . The race is conducted under handicap conditions, and some of the entrants achieved a much higher average, among them being the Comper-Swift entered by the Prince of Wales, which finished second, with an average speed of 155.75 miles per hour. The best tjme was made by the scratch machine, an Avro mail aeroplane, flown by H. Brown. Its average speed was 167 miles per hour, but it was the last to reach the finishing post. Captain Hope flew throughout at a speed 14 miles per hour faster than that estimated by,the handicappers.
