OTAGO ASSOCIATION The Executive Committee of the Otago Hockey Association met last evening in the Y.M.C.A. Mr D. T. Woodfield occupied the chair, and there were also present Messrs R. S. Wallace, C. Mayston, F. Brebner, J. M'Haffie, E. Densem, W. M'Queen, F. Pemberton, E. H. Calder, A. Payton, A. Jennings, and the secretary (Mr p. Sew Hoy). . , . A motion of sympathj' with the relatives of Mr C. H. E. Strack, whose death took place recently, was passed, those present standing in silence. ; In accordance with the notice of given at last meeting, it was moved that the decision to have a Selection Committee of three members should hr rescinded, and that the association should have a sole selector. —This was carried without discussion, and Mr Woodfield was appointed sole selector. .. .. A letter was received from the town clerk advising that the association s application for the use of the Stadium Ground on August 6 and 20 had been granted. . A report was received from the deputation which had interviewed the Reserves Committee with regard to new grounds at the Stadium, and ,an application was sent forward to the council _ for the use o grounds in accordance with the repoit o the deputation. A letter was received from a reter.e regarding the state of the grounds last Saturday, and it was decided to send a copy to the Reserves Committee, and to ask the committee to inspect the grounds. \ letter was received from the trustees of the Herbert Smith Trust Fund acknowledging an application for sticks for school boys. It bad been decided to grant 12 sticks as usual, to be presented to tie hoys who gained a position in the schools representative team. , . , A report concerning schools hockey, stating that 13 teams were playing, and that a great deal of improvement was being shown, due, no doubt, to the coac inp of each team, was received.
