RUGBY LEAGUE

MEETING OF THE EXECUTIVE • The weekly meeting of the executive of the Otago Rugby League was held last night and was presided over by Mr T. M, Gillies. The South Island selector wrote stating that the team to represent the South Island against the North Island at Auckland on July 23 would be announced this weekla reply to a request that school matches should not be played on Oval No. 3 ground the town clerk advised that instructions had been issued to the caretaker accordingly. The town clerk also advised that the stadium ground would be available for the match between the senior teams of Dunedin and Christchurch on July 30. The matter of altering the date of this match to August 0 was left in the hands of the secretary. The chairman stated that many in quiries had been made in respect to the possibility of a match being played in Dunedin between the English team and a South Island team. The secretary said that according to the itinerary of the team it would only be possible to stage the match on a Wednesday, and that would not be wise. The draw for Saturday is as follows: — Christian Brothers v. Pacific, Chisholm Park (Mr G. Packer) ; Athletic v City, Oval (Mr J. Sim).
