SOUTH OTAGO
BALCLUTHA DISTRICT NEWS
(From Our Own Correspondent.) BALCLUTHA, Alay 14. Word was received in' Balclutha to-day that the Otago Education Board had decided to declare the recent Balclutha School Committee election invalid, and to hold a second election on Monday, Juno 13. The election has been upset, it is understood, mainly for the reason that, after the first ballot, a number of electors left the room and did not return. Hence they took no part in the second ballot, which was held after the nomination of one candidate in the first ballot had been ruled out as ineligible. THE PUERUA HALL.
The Puerua Hall, which for some years has been in a state of disrepair, is to be restored and used as a place for holding meetings and entertainments. _ A committee has been formed with this object in view, and it is proposed to bold a winter show in the hall for the purpose of raising funds. The hall was built and opened in 1880.
