THE FRENCH CHAMBER

DEPUTIES COME TO BLOWS MANY RECEIVE BLACK EYES. PARIS, February 24. (Received Feb. 24, at 9 p.m.) M. Tardieu’s statement of policy in the Chamber was more than usually notable for its cordial reference to Britain. He said that France’s ambition was to have a general understanding with that noble country which stands for peace and right. The Chamber passed a vote of confidence by 309 to 262. M. Blum (Socialist) attacked the Government, and when a Nationalist military deputy shouted: “You are an advocate of Germany ” the Socialists protested, and uproar ensued. For 15 minutes deputies of the Right and Left fought fiercely on the floor of the House, collars, shirts, and coats being torn. Sonie of the deputies emerged with black eyes, and others with bleeding noses, many needing medical attention.
