LADIES’ TOURNAMENT RINKS COMPETITION CONTINUED. The Otago Ladies’ Bowling Association’s tournament was continued yesterday, when, in spite of the wintry weather, another round was completed on the Mornington and Kaikorar greens. At Green Island play was abandoned not long after it started. At Kaikorai only one section is being played. The following are the results of the day’s play:— MORNIGTON GREEN. SECTION A. Third Round. To-day the pairs competition will be continued on the Mornington, Green Island, Valley, Kaikorai, and Anderson’s Bay greens. Competitors playing at Green Island will be required to catfch the 8.30 a.m. bus. THE HARRAWAY SHIELD SOUTHLAND DEFEATS OTAGO. (Special to Daily Times.) INVERCARGILL, February 23. The annual match between Otago and Southland bowlers for the Harraway Shield was played this afternoon. Southland retaining the shield by the narrow margin of one point. Rain fell throughout the morning, but the Southland green dried rapidly, and play commenced at 2.45 p.m. Though on the heavy side, the green played well. Great excitement prevailed in the closing stages of the match. Otago has won the shield six times and Southland five. The following are the detailed scores:—
In the evening the same Otago team met a different Southland team _in a friendly game, the home side winning by 95 points to 88.
