FLYING SCHOLARSHIP
FINE PERFORMANCE BY GIRLS A feature of the Otago Aero Club’s flying scholarship competition yesterday was the excellent performance'by the girl competitors. Public interest in this competition, tests for which are being carried out on the pilot instruction machine at the premises of Messrs Arthur Barnett, Ltd., is growing daily, and there promises to be a large crowd of onlookers at the finale to-morrow evening. In the scholarship competitions previously held throughout Australia and New Zealand only one has been won by a girl, and that was a small competition held at Timaru. Of the large number of entrants who tried their skill on.the pilot instruction machine yesterday the following were selected for the final flying contest: —Miss E. Crawshaw, 6 Valpy street, St. Clair: Miss V. Spedding, Cargill street, Mosgiel; Miss M. Hervey, Bedford street, St. Clair; Mr J. A. Bremner, 2 Heriot row; Mr W. M'lnnes, 45 Royal crescent, St. Kilda; Mr J. Luppe, Ross street.
