EGYPTIAN POLITICS

ELECTION PREPARATIONS THE WAFDIST MOVEMENT. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, April 1. (Received April 1, at 11 p.m.) The Prime Minister (Sidky Pasha) told the Daily Telegraph’s Cairo correspondent that preparations were progressing for the elections at the end of May. Although opponents of the Government had proclaimed a boycott it would be limited to professional politicians, and the Egyptian masses would poll in at least the same proportions as at previous elections. Thus the world would see the Wafdist movement in its true light. The Government thereafter hoped to succeed in negotiating a treaty with Great Britain.
