(From Oub Own Correspondent.) PERBROKE, February 24. The weather during the past week was fine and warm, with an occasional high breeze from the north-west. On Saturday evening it commenced to blow strongly from the north, and continued until noon on Sunday, when heavy rain fell for some hours. Sunday,night was wild and stormy, with 6ome_ thunder. Monday morning broke fine, with a stiff breeze from the north. It is again fine, and the wind has dropped. The threshing of oats and barley is now in full swing. Crops-are reported to be about the average. Pasture laud continues to be in god condition, with an abundance of feed. CRICKET. . / . The Luggate cricket teamplayed Pembroke on Saturday for the Williams Cup, and were defeated by one wicket and 76 runs, Luggate scored 71, W. Todd (20); E. Collings (11), and T. Smith (10) reaching double figures. Brooks (three wickets for 27' runs), J. Stuart (three for 25), Willetts (one for 8), and Bovett (two for 5) secured the wickets for Pembroke. Pembroke made 147 for tbe loss of nine wickets. Willetts (43), Trevatban (10), Brooks (15), Ironside (25), Wilkie (28 not out), Rovett (10), and Hannah (II not out) contributed to the total. For Luggate, R. Collings (one wicket for 48 runs), R. Todd (three for 37), C. Templeton (three for 14), and Gibb (one for 8) bowled well. LAWN TENNIS. Alexandra tennis players visited Pembroke in force on' Saturday,' and played a friendly game against the local team, Alexandra being defeated by five sets to If).
