(Feom Ooe Own Cobrespondent.) TAPANUI, February 25. Owing to the Willowbank Lawn Tennis Club being unable to raise a team to play Tapanui A on Saturday, the latter team won by default. Tapanui won the banner competition held under the auspices of the newly-formed West Otago Sub-associa-tion. M.U.1.0.0.F. The monthly meeting of the Loyal Tapanui Lodge was held in the Oddfeln 011 Saturday evening, when G-M. Bro. A. J« Potts presided over an excellent attendance of members. Official visits were i eceived from the Loyal Valiejv Dunedin, Roxburgh, and Waikaka Lodges, and also from five members of the District Executive—viz..—P.G.M. Bro. D.P.G.U. Bro. Michelle, P.P.G.M. Bro. J. W. Johnston, Prov, Sec. Bro, J. A. Hopcraft, and Prov Treas. Bro. Alexander Sligo. The chairman, in a neat speech, extended a hearty welcome to Unitors. A letter was received from 1.1.G.M, Bro. A. Lawry, stating that ■}, o. Alan Kirk, who was at present in the Dunedin Hospital, was progressing favourably. Per. Sec. Bro. E. Arnold, P.&. s Bros. J. L. Wylie and J. A Mercer were appointed delegates to represent the lodge at the annual district meeting, winch will be held at Mosgiel next week. P.G. Bro. Peter Thomson made feeling reference to the death of P.P.G.M. Bro. 1 eter Miller, and it was decided that a Jotter of sympathy be sent from the lodge !? family of the late brother. P r ?'■ QR- Resell (Valley), N.G. Bro. L, Lyttle (Roxburgh), and N.G. Bro. is. Kelly (Waikaka) returned thanks on behalf of their respective lodges. On behalf of the district officers, P.G.M. Bro. J . roung expressed the pleasure it gave them Ao visit the Tapanui Lodge. At the conclusion of the business meeting a past officers degree and purple lecture was held, when 14 brothers received the E.S. degree, 15 the V.G. degree, 16 the hI.L. degree, and 12 the purple lecture, f“e was carried out by the D.P.G.M., Bro. T. P. Michelle, in the V.G. chair; P.P.GM Bro. A. Sligo in the G.M. chair; P.P.G.M. Bro. C. H. Russell, lecture master: P.P.G.M. Bro. W. J. Johnson and P.S, Bro. E. Arnold, conductors; P.G. s Bros. J. Henderson and P. Thomson, examiners; and P.G. Bro. J. L Wylie, guardian. At the conclusion of i e j C^} n S> the district officers wers thanked for visiting Tapanui and confer' ring the degrees. PERSONAL. At a meeting of the Tapanui District High School Committee held on Monday evening the Education Board’s proposal to appoint Miss A. Naismith, of the Kaitangata School staff, as infant mistress at' Tapanui, was approved.
