NASEBY NOTES.

(From Opr Own Corresrondbnt.) NASEBY, April 25. Loyal Naseby Lodge spent a most enjoyable evening on lodge night last week, receiving an official visit from Loyal Maniototo Lodge, and the first visit by Loyal Queen of Maniototo Lodge, and there was a good attendance for this occasion. P. 6. Bro. K. Ball presided as N.G. supported by Bro. Q. Smith, V.G. and Bro. 0. Fennesfiey, 6.M. A cordial welcome to the visitors was given by Perm. Sec. Bro. Newman on behalf of the Naseby Lodge. One candidate was initiated, and for this ceremony N.G. Bro. Ball invited the Loyal Queen of Maniototo Lodge to officer the lodge. Sistei Copeland, N.G., presided, with the following to assist her:—V.G., Sister E. Hall, Q.M. Sister Garrett, Warden Sister L. Black, Conductors, Sisters Mitchell and Haurahan, Perm. Sec. Sister Cleghorn. The Maniototo Farmers’ Union converted a meeting Of ratepayers at jßanfurly on Saturday afternoon to consider the question of forming a ratepayers’ association. Mr T. Dowling presided, and explained that he had received a requisition signed by .several members of the union, asking him to convene the meeting. Mr M. A. Kinney, one of the signatories, explained that there had been a feeling that the County Council was not doing all it might, but it was not desired to make any personal complaints. Ho had thought it desirable, after receiving some requests and complaints to bring forward the suggestion to form a ratepayers’ association, which would put forward any requests for ratepayers, and would assist the council. He formally moved a motion—“ That in the interests of ratepayers in Maniototo a ratepayers’ association bo formed to assist the council.” An amendment was then moved by Mr W. Mawhinhey, that the meeting be deferred for 12 months. The amendment was lost on a show of hands, and the motion was then carried. Brief discussion followed as ip the com. stitution of the association, and eventually a provisional committee was -ap ; pointed to carry the proposals further.
