THEFT OF LODGE FUNDS.

SECRETARY ADMITS GUILT. (Special to Daily Times.) AUCKLAND, January 24. The theft of lodge money totalling £3O 19s 9d was admitted by Ernest Wright, a young man, in (he Police Court this morning. Wright was secretary to the Richmond Lodge 4428. Now Zealand, No. 13, Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes, said Senior Detective Hammond. The remuneration he received for this work was only nominal, about £3 a quarter. Originally he was a ship’s steward by occupation, and had been in New Zealand only 12 months. After misappropriating portion of the money entrusted to him, Wright went to Wellington, where ho shipped for England. He was arrested the day before the boat sailed. “Stand him down,” said Mr F- K. Hunt, SM. “I want to see the probation officer before passing sentence.”
