DWELLING HOUSE' DESTROYED. FAMILY’S NARROW ESCAPE. (Peb United Pbess Association.) PUKEKOHE, December 6. About 10 p.m. on Saturday fire destroyed a six-roomed house at Timkau occupied by Mrs G. Bakaiich and a family of eight young children. The father was absent at the time and the wife hid great difficulty in escaping with the family in their night attire. The youngest child’s foot was burned. The family was lucky, for a few minutes after their exit the building collapsed. BLAZE AT TTKIPUNGA. (Pee United Press Association.) WHANGAREI. December 6. A five-roomed house at Tikipunga, owned and occupied by Brio Rawland Hardy, was completely destroyed by fire on Saturday night. The occupant was absent at the time. The house was insured for £550 in the Standard office and the furniture for £250 in the South British. MACANDREW BAY FIRE, The four-roomed house which was destroyed by fire at Macandrew Bay early on Saturday morning, was insured for £4OO in the United Insurance Company, and tie contents were insured in the Standard Company for £3OO. A LOCAL CALL. At 9.25 a.m. yesterday the City Fire Department received a call to Messrs Briscoe and Co.’s warehouse in Crawford street It was found that an automatic false alarm had been registered.
