“MONA LISA” AGAIN

ART SENSATION REVIVED. PARIS, November 21. The theft in 1911 and the recovery in 1913 of Leonardo da Vinci’s famous picture “Mona Lisa” is recalled by an article in the newspaper L’Oeuvre, which states that the picture at present hanging in the Louvre is not the original. It is claimed to be lacking in small repair marks, and also in the artist’s characteristic touches. The writer of the article adds that ho has seen the original in an underground vault in Paris. The antiquary authorities have now ordered an investigation of the circumstances under which the picture was restored.
