THREAT WITH REVOLVER.
INCIDENT IN HOTEL,
AN OLD OFFENDER CHARGED. (Special to Daily Times.) AUCKLAND, November 19. An incident in an hotel bar when a man produced a revolver had a sequel in the Police Court to-day when William Edward Cotter, aged 49 years, alias O’Brien, was charged with pointing a firearm at Thomas Martin, and also with carrying a pistol without proper authority or sufficient purpose. Detective Cummings stated accused , pointed the revolver at a man named Martin in the bar of the hotel, and said to Martin: “I will do for you.” Cotter, on November 10. had been sentenced to six months’ imprisonment for vagrancy. Ho was a man with a record of previous convictions, who would not hesitate to use-*-, revolver. Cotter told the magistrate he bought the* weapon from a sailor and was trying to-, sell it. He admitted pointing it at Martin,, but only in fun. “I knew that with mjr record I would not be allowed to carry a • revolver, and I knew that if the police saw me with it I would got three months,” he , added.
Chief Detective Cummings: You are -a pretty good judge. Accused was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment on the first charge, to be cumulative with the senter.ee of sis months which he is at present serving, and two months on the second charge, to run concurrently. ' -
