OTAGO RUGBY UNION.

The weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the Otago Rugby Union was held last night. The President (Mr D. M. Stuart) occupied the chair. J. Vickers, Taieri Rovers Club, wrote stating that his application for a transfer to the University Club was conditional on his being permitted to play for thejTraining College—a junior team. —The Chairman said the committee could not transfer a senior player to a junior club, and it was decided to inform Vickers to this effect. J. Hayes applied for a transfer from the Dunedin Club to the Southern Club. —A letter was received from the secretary of the Dunedin Club stating that his club could not object to the transfer, but regretting Hayes’s action. —The application was held over pending a statement _ from Hayes giving his reasons for desiring a transfer. The Maniototo Sub-union was granted permission to play the final match of the schools’ competition at Naseby on October 2. Mr V. G. Cavanagh was appointed manager of the University team which is to play the Star Club at Invercargill next Saturday for the Deacon Cup. This is the match between the leading teams of Otago and Southland. Permission was granted the Southern Fifth Grade team to travel to Balclutha on Saturday to play the Balclutha District High School team. It was decided to send a letter of thanks tj Mr L. C. Hazlett for the courtesies he had extended to the Hawke’s Bay team during their visit to Salisbury on Friday last.
