The team was anxious to make the trip. The players were in good form, and the League was asked to give the necessary permission to make the trip. There would be no expense borne by the Otago League, as the Christian Brothers would be billeted out, and a Dunedin resident had offered to pay for the motor transit to Christchurch. On the motion of Mr Kennedy, seconded by Mr G. Snow, it was decided to accede to the request, the secretary to write to the Hornby Club to ascertain the conditions governing the Thacker Shield. Mr T. Hughes reported on the trip to Balclutha on Saturday last. He was of the opinion that all those present at the show grounds were greatly impressed with the game staged between Christian Brothers and Kaitangata. The officials were not altogether satisfied with the Result of the meeting held on Saturday evening. Although they did not receive the support expected, still there was a possibility. of a club being started at Balclutha. Mr W. Kennedy also submitted a report. Those residents who attended the meeting seemed somewhat diffident, as football appeared to be at a low ebb at Balclutha. However, they were hopeful that a team would eventually, be formed b. the young men from the district. —Mr H. Divers said he was very hopeful as the result of the League’s invasion of Balclutha, and he was sanguine that a club would be formed. When a club was established it would be the duty of the League to send an official to Balclutha to attend the meetings and give them all the support possible.—The Chairman said the reports were quite satisfactory, and he was of the opinion that the code would be established in the Balclutha district next year. A report was submitted in connection with the buildings on the League’s ground. It was decided that the buildings should be sold. The question of receiving prompt information regarding the result of the matches being played by the New Zealand team in England was discussed. The secretary reported that as a result of an appeal being made to the Dominion’s officials in London and the Press Association, the news was now being sent through more promptly. It was pointed out that the cabled news was appreciated, but there was discrepancy in the cabled attendance. There was something wrong somewhere, and steps should be taken _to have the correct attendance cabled with the report of any match. Correspondence that has passed between the League and the New Zealand Council in regard to •an agreement being entered into for the paying over of moneys at the conclusion of the present English tour was read. The secretary submitted a detailed report, which was endorsed. Accounts amounting to £23 lie 4d were passed for payment.
