FIRES.

BOARDING HOUSE DESTROYED. INMATES HURRIEDLY ESCAPE. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, September 22. A two-storey boarding-house in Boston road was destroyed by fire at 1 o’clock this morning. There were 10 boarders in the house, also Mrs C. Buckton (manageress! and two women assistants. All made a hurried escape in their night attire. A hoarder, awakened by the crackling, found th*; flames burning fiercely between an attached washhouse and the back passage. Ho aroused the other occupants, who wore unable to save any of their effects except a few natures. The premises were owned by Airs P. Miller. MALICIOUS FALSE ALARM. The City Fire Brigade received a call at noon yesterday to Woodhaugh. The ejigine turned out, but it was found that it was a malicious false alarm.
