On Tuesday evening the South Dunedin class of the Workers’ Educational Association hold an interesting discussion and study on “Racial Differences. The tutor, Mr A O. Watson, M.A., drew attention to the' causes of racial antagonism and read some illuminating extracts on the subject from recently-published books. Ihe significance of race was also gone into, and the important influences in the modern study of heredity. Discussion by class members concluded the meeting. The quarterly meeting of the Mornington Methodist Circuit was held on Thursday evening. The Rev. J. Kichards presided over a ; ropresontat)vo gathering of office-bearers. A vote of sympathy with Mrs Burgess in the death of her father, was passed. The balance sheet showed a credit of £lO. The reports of the young peoples department showed healthy activity. ihe plans for the celebration of the church jubilee, to be held in September, were commenced, and preparations are to be made for a week of special services following the jubilee. Miss Smith, home mission secretary, reported that about £3O had been raised for home missions. Arrangements were also made for the Belleknowes Ghurch anniversary, and for the visit to the circuit of Principal C. H. Laws D.D., in August, and the Rev. Mr Metcalfe of the foreign mission deputation, m October. At a meeting of the Kaikrrai branch of the Otago Home Economics Society, held at the home of one of tho members, Mrs Sligo, an appeal was received from the Roslyn Fire Brigade for an organiser and wbrk party to assist in maxing articles for the coming carnival in aid of the sick firemen’s benefit fund. The matter was discussed, and met with sympathetic and ready assistance. Dr Emily Nees gave an instructive and interesting lecture on how to act in various emergencies arising in the home. Mrs Cooper (president) read the first reply to letters sent out some weeks ago to women in lonely lighthouses. This proved that at least one woman had appreciated tho letters and books she had received.
