(Received July B, at 7.5 p.m.J A telegram from Swampscott (Massachusetts) slates that Mr Coofidge has ordered the coast patrol to attack a fleet of rumrunners which is plainly visible from tho President’s summer residence here. General Andrews, Chief of the Prohibition Enforcement bureau is concentrating guardsmen afloat and ashore to prevent tho bootleggers’ ships from supplying Boston and tho manufacturing towns in Massachusetts. Mr Coolidgc is expected to recommend a larger appropriation for enforcement in the event of the failure of the attack. Swampscott is a favourite haunt for smugglers owing to the number of its bays and inlets. A 3000-dollar liquor cache was recently discovered in an unoccupied house adjoining the President’s resulting in the arrest of the Chief of Police at Swampscott. —A. and N.Z. Cable.
