Lee proved himself to be the fateet schoolby sprinter seen in Christchurch for years. , In his heat in the 220 Yards Handicap he won from scratch, and lowered the record to 24 2-ssec. In the afternoon he put up an even more wonderful record by winning the 100 Yards Handicap from scratch in the remarkably fine time of lOsec. Ho had tho assistance of a strong north-westerly wind behind him, but, nevertheless, his performance was a brilliant one, as the track was not fast after the recent tains. PROFESSIONAL SPORTS MEETING. Tho sports meeting to bo held under tho auspices of the Otago Athletic and Cycling Club on the Caledonian Grounds on Monday next (Labour Day), will undoubtedly prove to be a bigger success than its initial meeting held last February. On looking through the acceptances it will be seen that the programme has drawn athletes from all parts of the South Island, and the public will enjoy every moment of tho day. Arrangements have been made so that tho usual Palmerston train, leaving at 4.23, shall be delayed until 7.25 pun., thereby enabling visitors from the north to return home on the same day. The local Highland Pipe Band will be in attendaanoe. Gordon’s Jazz Band has also been engaged, and from the attention given it by tie public at last meeting, it should again prove attractive. Tho club members will be out with a motor lorry selling tickets on the street to-night.
