Edie (member for CJutha) .informed the Iloaee of Reproeentatryee to-day , that he had received a telegram from the >■ Kaitangata mine stating that over 70 mjen. -. were unemployed, and that men who ware ■ still at work were getting only two; for •three days’ work a week. Half the men i affected were married men with families. Ths matter was urgent, and he wanted ;to knew if the Minister of Mines could do anything for those concerned. ! The Hon. G. J. Anderson replied that , he regretted that the weU-knowii coal xns» at Kaitangata was not aa flourishing as fit used to be, but competition had afiogted! it considerably.
