THE BRUCE-PAGE PACT. ENDORSED BY COUNTRY PARTY. Pints Association—By Telegraph—Copyrifirt, MELBOURNE, August 11. The Farmers’ and Settlers’ Conference endorsed the pact entered into between Mr Bruce and Dr Earle Page. It was stated during the debate that if the conference bad not endorsed the arrangement Mr Bruce would have resigned and an election have been forced. THE RELIEF EXPEDITION. SLOW PROGRESS OF HUDDERSFIELD. DARWIN, August 12. The rescue ship Huddersfield is making slow progress. Although she left on Tuesday she was only 80 miles distant on Friday. So far she has averaged about one knot per hour over smooth water. BENEFICIAL RAINS. MELBOURNE, August Vi. SYDNEY, 'August 12. (Received August 12, at 9.10 p.m.) William M'Donald and Louis Sterling were committed for .trial on charges or committing the Randwick robbery. Two armed and masked men gained auraittance to a house at Randwick. They held up the two women occupants at the point of the revolver, and robbed them of jewellery valued at £155. They then decamped.
