(Received August 12, at 7.55 p.m.) The Federal Ministry lias decided to consult the other dominions before it takes action to alter the basis of the British preferential tariff, which the Minister of Trade (Mr H. E. Fratten) favours raising to 75 per cent. home months ago when the Federal Ministry contemplated action the New Zealand Ministry agreed to co-operate, but later when it was pointed out that the basis of preference was decided by the 192 i Imperial Customs Conference it was agreed to ask the dominions to co-operate m seeming a re-adjustment.
